Bastian Thiery (b. 1990, South-West Germany) is a Berlin and Paris-based photographer and director working at the intersection of fashion and documentary photography. With a focus on portrait and narrative, his work emphasizes authenticity and a human-centered perspective—combining his background in fashion and experience on both sides of the camera with formal training in documentary photography.
He studied at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York, attending a Documentary Class, and later graduated from the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin, publishing his first book Humpelfuchs.
Thiery’s personal work has received wide recognition, including winning the second prize of the Vonovia Award and a shortlist for the Photobookfestival Kassel Dummy Award, as well as several exhibitions in museums and galleries.
